A New Bhagavad Gita - Krishner in New York

By Kathy Braun

The story – A re-imagining of the classic scripture of yoga. Trudy Newman is a New York young lady who’s fed up with life. She hops a taxi to work and her thoughts start racing

I’m sick of this life, sick unto death
I want no more life, I want no more breath
So many people I meet are so mean
So much of life just seems obscene
They know how to fight
They know how to boast
They now how to grab
What will get them the most.
And you don’t need a genius
To make the deduction
That leaders can just lead
The way to corruption.
People are virtually steaming with greed
If we go on this way, where will it lead

Her driver replies:
Now don’t think me odd
But my question to you
Is what about God?

Trudy answers:
Oh yeah, yeah, right sure
It’s all in God’s plan
Well, tell me who’s worse then
This God or his man?
This God that you name
Means nothing to me
How can I believe in
What I can’t see?

Her driver replies:
Well of course you see God
Take me for example
This chat that we’re having
Is just one small sample.
I’ll take you where you want to go
And teach you what you want to know
Harry Krishner, New York charioteer
When things get bad, I reappear

And so it goes on.
Ultimately Krishner gives Trudy a vision
And she finally gets it.
